
The man on left in this photograph ( John Pottage) became a sergeant in the veterinary corps in the first world war at the age of fifty. This man and his family played a very big part towards the war effort in Scarborough as you will see in photographs to come. The two gentlemen with him are (middle) Jack Howarth, (Right) Frank Rielly. Jack married Sally Duck and they ran a pub in Rillington, Frank was a staunch catholic and served in the East yorkshire regiment throughout the first world war
